Major remedial work

Watertight was contracted to undertake major remedial work on failing ashplalt membrane, and torchon bitumen rooves and decks at the historical Auckland Firestation.

• All the gutters on the main concrete tile roof were leaking and rusted through.
• All ashphalt decks were completely deteriorating, coming up in bubbles and cracks.
• Torchon rooves were leaking into the rooms below.
• Additional to this the walls of the firestation were cracking and deterioring and letting in water as well.

• Watertight used highly durable UV stable liquid membrane fully reinforced with fiberglass matting, in the gutters and roofs and on the parapet walls of the roofs to prevent further cracking.
• On the torchon rooves we double layered the membrane with fiberglass over the laps for extra binding.
• This project required lots of demolition and investigation to find different leaks. Experience with different products was a big part of the job to be able to adapt to different situations as they were discovered. Knowledge to use the correct product to make watertight the right solution.
• Watertight provided all edge protection for the job and painted the walls of the parapets with a colour matched elastic waterproof paint for extra protection as well as for aesthetic appeal.
• Watertight had to use a combined screed with sand to repair the bubbled and broken asphalt roofs so they didn't pool water and directed the water into the outlets.
